I kneeled and fought in prayer Until my eyes were filled With tears that carry passion With tears to wash His feet. I kneeled and asked the Master The Healer if my soul To come and take me faster To mend and make me whole. I kneeled before All-knowing, The Holy, Pure and Just Until my overflowing Impurity, pride, lust Entombed and sank and swallowed My bones into the deep. Oh, how my soul was hollowed! I could not hold or keep! In anguish and despair My strangled voice would say "This is too much to bear, Oh, Lord, take this away!" My tears became like fire And washed your feet, my Lord, Each one of them would carry A story yet untold. And as I wiped your feet You wiped away my sin, My eyes and yours would meet, New life, new breath begin. And as I poured perfume- my precious, treasured gift, You filled my heart with love And bridged the rift.
